Sergeant Arrested in Case of Murder of Three Soldiers: New Details from Investigative Committee

The investigation into the murder of three soldiers has been ongoing at the Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Following extensive investigative and procedural measures, several significant circumstances related to the case have been clarified, including the involvement of another conscript soldier, the platoon sergeant.

The sergeant has been arrested on suspicion of illegally inciting the soldiers to take the lives of others and committing sexual violence against a subordinate.

Earlier, it was reported that on August 19, 2021, at around 1:30 am, the bodies of conscript soldiers Gor Artak Sahakyan, Levon Rafayel Harutyunyan, and Murad Ashot Muradyan were found in the combat post of military unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, where they were on duty, with gunshot wounds.

Previously, another conscript soldier from the same unit, identified as A.H., had been arrested on suspicion of unlawfully taking the lives of the mentioned soldiers. Based on sufficient evidence, charges were brought against him under the first part of the second paragraph of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code.

The prosecuting body has submitted a petition to the court requesting the use of detention as a measure of constraint, which was approved on August 22.

The investigation into the criminal case continues.
