Investigation Launched into Maternal Death: Forensic Examination Ordered and Medical Staff Questioned
On August 20, 2021, the Talin Medical Center reported the death of a woman who had undergone a cesarean section. The deceased was born in 1990. This was announced by the Armenian Investigative Committee.
During the preparation of materials regarding the incident, a forensic examination of the body has been ordered, and several individuals, including the on-duty medical staff, have been questioned.
Considering that the prepared materials contain apparent grounds for initiating a criminal case, the Investigative Committee of the Aragatsotn regional investigative department has opened a case under the second part of Article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The 30-year-old woman has been identified as the victim.
An investigation is underway. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being taken to clarify all circumstances surrounding the incident and the cause(s) of the mother's death, ensuring an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination.
Note: A suspect in a presumed crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court decision that has come into legal force.
