Ararat Police Discover a Complete Arsenal

On August 20, officers from the Ararat Division of the Police received operational information that a 23-year-old resident of the village of Lusarat in the Ararat region had fired from illegally held firearms in Pokr Vedi. According to the police, as a result of measures taken and explanatory work, the young man came to the division, bringing a submachine gun and an empty magazine.

He stated that he had fired several times into the air from the submachine gun, which he had brought during the last war in Artsakh, in a field adjacent to the village of Pokr Vedi.

On August 22, a search was carried out at the young man’s residence in the village of Lusarat. The Ararat police discovered a complete arsenal in his home and auxiliary structures, including four various rifles, two grenades and two detonators, a switchblade knife, and two bulletproof vests, along with several boxes of ammunition—around five and a half thousand rounds in total.

The young man's father, 62, reported that he had brought the illegal weapons and ammunition during the recent war. The father has been arrested. The discovered items have been sent for examination, and the circumstances are being clarified as part of the initiated criminal case.
