Amnesty for Individuals Charged with Military Service Offenses During the 44-Day War

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has published a draft law on 'Proclaiming Amnesty' on the unified platform for legal act projects today.

If accepted, the draft will declare an amnesty that will apply to individuals who participated in military operations unleashed by the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh from September 27 to November 9, 2020, who are suspected, charged, or convicted for offenses against military service order as stipulated in Chapter 32 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Articles 356-383) up until September 26, 2020, as well as from November 9, 2020, until March 24, 2021 (the end of the declared state of emergency in the country).

According to the brief description of the project, 'As a result, the state, by declaring an amnesty, appreciates the noble act of fulfilling the civil duty of standing with its armed forces during military operations, responding with a humanitarian approach toward those who committed crimes against military service order.'
