28 years ago we were purposeful and compelling, and today we must find ourselves again
Former spokesperson of the Defense Army Senor Hasratyan wrote on his Facebook page: “In about 40 minutes, it will be August 23... Exactly 28 years ago, on that day, according to combat order No. 011 of the Artsakh Self-Defense Committee, the Central (Stepanakert) defensive region (commander: Samvel Karapetyan) was tasked to first liberate the territories of the Hadrut region still under enemy control, and then continue the advance towards Jabrail with the support of 4 tanks, 3 infantry fighting vehicles, an artillery battery, and anti-tank means. During the combat operation, part of the forces of the Hadrut defensive region supported the actions of the Stepanakert unit from the left flank, tasked with preventing enemy reinforcements from entering the southern combat zone from the Horadiz military base. The mission was accomplished brilliantly. On August 23, the Armenian forces, launching an assault, broke the enemy's resistance in a matter of hours and took control of the Jabrail military base.
28 years ago, we were purposeful and compelling; and today... we must find ourselves again.
P.S. - And, as a summary, a note for all those who, carried away by self-deception, examine history through a 100-year prism: the village of Jabrail, known as Jrakan until 1750, was part of the historical Artsakh province of the Dizak principality, where the residents were Armenians and had local Armenian autonomy under Persian sovereignty.”
