205 Officers Were Unemployed Before Becoming Patrol Officers: What They Did Previously and Their Educational Background
According to a response from the Armenian police to an inquiry by Tert.am, 205 of the patrol officers had no prior employment before being appointed to their positions in the Patrol Service.
Tert.am has also learned that there is a variety of educational backgrounds among patrol officers. Specifically, 315 officers have a secondary education, 350 possess a bachelor's degree, and 47 hold a master's degree.
Regarding the question of how many individuals have been dismissed from police service since the formation of the Patrol Service, the police responded in July that those officers who were not appointed to relevant positions in the Patrol Service are being offered other roles. However, they stated that providing information on the number of those dismissed from the police is unrealistic because the personnel turnover in the police is ongoing. Additionally, discussions are still underway about the future service of those from dissolved divisions who have not been appointed to the Patrol Service.
It is worth noting that the training for patrol officers lasted five months. The candidates were Armenian citizens aged 18-35 who had at least a secondary education. The Ministry of Justice required applicants not only to provide their email addresses but also to share links and usernames for personal accounts on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Odnoklassniki.
It is estimated that the establishment of the Patrol Service will cost between 15-17 million euros, with 8 million euros allocated for its establishment in Yerevan.
