18 Aircraft from US Commercial Airlines Evacuating from Afghanistan
The US authorities have activated 18 aircraft from six American commercial airlines to carry out evacuations from Afghanistan. This was announced by General Hank Taylor during a recent briefing at the Pentagon, where he is specifically responsible for logistics related to the evacuation of people from the capital of Afghanistan.
Taylor reminded that earlier the US administration had decided to mobilize civilian aviation for the purpose of evacuating people from Afghanistan. “Currently, this is involving 18 aircraft from six commercial airlines,” said the American general. He emphasized that priority in the evacuation from Kabul airport is still being given to military aircraft.
The Pentagon representative also clarified that since the end of July, the US has evacuated about 42,000 people from Afghanistan. In the last day alone, approximately 16,000 individuals have been evacuated from Kabul.
