VIDEO: "You’re not animals, are you? Why are you hitting us?" – Clash at Fizgorodok, Residents Detained

There was a clash today between police and residents at 6/1 Alikhanian Brothers Street, in the well-known "Fizgorodok" area of Yerevan. Several individuals have been detained. The conflict stems from the construction of a 12-storey building with an underground parking lot at "Fizgorodok," which residents claim is illegal, especially since tree cutting has already begun in the building's area.

The owner and developer of the project is “RATKO” LLC. On June 12, 2020, the City Architecture Council of Yerevan approved the architectural and layout task for the multi-apartment building, and on July 20, the municipality granted permission for the design. The company received a building permit on July 29, which they used to begin development and organize the construction site.

The area's residents are opposed to the construction and have initiated several petitions, but to no avail. Further details can be found in the video.
