Military Use Tear Gas to Disperse Crowds at Kabul Airport
Military personnel stationed at Kabul Airport have utilized tear gas to control a crowd of Afghans attempting to enter the facility, following a Pentagon announcement about restoring order in the area just a day prior. This has been reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to a senior Western official, soldiers also fired into the air to disperse the crowd. However, it remains unclear whether the troops were American, as British, Afghan, and other European forces are also present at the airport.
No comment has been provided by American military officials. The report indicates that several thousand people have gathered near Kabul Airport, all seeking to leave the country. However, the military personnel controlling the airport are only allowing those who are on flight passenger lists to enter the area.
