Charges Filed Against the Head of Baghravan Community

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that a number of circumstances surrounding the apparent mismanagement by the head of the Baghravan community have been uncovered.

“As a result of investigatory and procedural actions conducted in the criminal case being examined by the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, several circumstances regarding the alleged misconduct by the head of the Baghravan community have been revealed.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, the head of the Baghravan community, who held this position from 2002 to 2017, misused their official position for personal gain by issuing decrees appointing two female residents of the community as employees of the community administration, despite their failure to attend work or fulfill their job responsibilities. It was found that false payroll documents were created, approved, and verified with the seal of the community administration, leading to a significant misappropriation from the community budget, totaling 2,986,696 AMD, under the guise of salary payments.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, charges have been filed against the head of the Baghravan community under Articles 179, Part 2, Points 1 and 3, and Article 314, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing,” the statement reads.
