27-Year-Old Man Wanted by Authorities Found

The investigation by the Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee is ongoing regarding a criminal case concerning violence against officials of the RA Police and intentional damage to another's property. Following urgent investigative and procedural actions, several circumstances of the incident have been clarified.

Specifically, on July 29, 2021, at around 11:00 PM, officials of the RA Police approached a parked "Mercedes-Benz" vehicle operated by a 27-year-old resident of Yerevan, which was located near a gas station on Hrachya Kochar Street, acting on operational intelligence. Identifying themselves legally, they requested the young man inside the vehicle to exit. However, in response, he refused to comply with the police's lawful demand and deliberately rammed the police car with the vehicle he was operating. Subsequently, he drove the car toward police officers standing on the road, but they managed to escape from the roadway.

As a result of operational search and investigative measures carried out by employees of the RA Police, the 27-year-old suspect, who had been wanted in connection with the criminal case, was located and presented to the prosecutorial authority. He has been charged under Article 185, Part 1, Article 316, Part 1, and Article 243.1, Part 1.1 of the RA Criminal Code. A motion has been filed with the court to confirm the preventive measure of detention imposed on him, which was granted. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to clarify all circumstances of the incident and ensure an objective and comprehensive examination.
