Russian Peacekeepers Conduct Exercises in Artsakh

The personnel of the Russian peacekeeping contingent's observation posts in Nagorno-Karabakh are conducting planned combat readiness measures, which include training to prevent violations and potential attacks on observation points. This information was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Russian peacekeeper Ivan Zolotaryov spoke about the start of his service, his mission in Artsakh, as well as his living conditions and leisure activities. He began his mandatory service in 2017 and signed a contract six months later. In January of this year, he learned about his deployment to Nagorno-Karabakh as part of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and decided to volunteer for the assignment. His preparation lasted three months.

“Our armed forces are associated with the following expression in society: wherever we are, there is peace,” Zolotaryov stated.

Upon arriving in Nagorno-Karabakh, he was surprised by the conditions created for the special tasks undertaken by the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the level of social security organized for leisure, and the availability of sports facilities.

“My relatives view my choice of profession positively; my parents are proud that I have served in the army for so many years. My father is a military man, and my grandfather was also a soldier. They supported me in my decision to deploy to Nagorno-Karabakh. The local population treats us with respect. I have personally heard many words of gratitude from local residents for ensuring peace in their territory,” Ivan added.

All the observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are equipped with “Blockpost” fortifications designed to protect personnel from small arms fire and fragments, as well as to provide circular surveillance of the adjacent areas.

Comfortable and modern conditions have been created for organizing physical training and relaxation for the personnel of the peacekeeping units. Each village territory has a gym with an artificial surface, showers, a medical point, a dryer, a laundry room, a recreation room, a canteen, and a food storage facility.
