Fatal Pedestrian Accident Occurs in Yerevan: 70-Year-Old Man Dies
A fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Yerevan. On August 18, around 00:10, a 29-year-old resident of Yerevan, Arshak Atoyan, struck a man approximately 70 years old who was crossing the street at an unauthorized area in front of house number 40/2 on Komitas Street while driving his Mercedes vehicle. Citizens promptly provided first aid to the victim, who was then transported to the Armenia Medical Center.
A BMW belonging to a 27-year-old resident of Yerevan, Andranik Ginosyan, was also moved to a police-secured area from the scene, as there are indications that the vehicle may have also been involved in the accident.
At 07:00 today, the police's Arabkir Division received a call from the Armenia Medical Center that the pedestrian, who had been in the hospital’s intensive care unit, had passed away without regaining consciousness.
A criminal case has been initiated under the second part of Article 242 of the Criminal Code regarding this incident. Police and investigative divisions are working to determine the identity of the deceased.
