The Leader of Mrdzavan Has Committed Abuses

On July 18, 2021, the Vagharshapat division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia received a complaint addressed to the General Prosecutor's Office through an electronic platform regarding the leader of the Mrdzavan community. It was reported that he provided false excerpts to a group of individuals who do not reside in the community, including minors, claiming that they had reportedly received land plots in the Mrdzavan area free of charge during the privatization of lands without state registration.

As a result of the measures taken, it was found that during 2007-2008, the Mrdzavan community leader issued false excerpts in the names of several citizens, stating that they had received residential land plots in the Artsakh neighborhood of the Mrdzavan community by a decision of the executive committee of the Ejmiatsin regional council. However, it has become clear that such a decision does not exist, and there is a record indicating that land allocations in the names of citizens who benefited from the community's property have not been discovered.

In connection with the case, on August 13, 2021, a criminal case was initiated in the Vagharshapat division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia under the first part of Article 308 and the first part of Article 325 of the RA Criminal Code. On August 16, it was sent to the Vagharshapat investigative division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia for investigation and accepted for processing.
