Body Found Hanging with a Sheet in Armavir Prison: Charged with Sexual Relations with a Minor

On August 14, a suicide incident occurred in the Armavir region, at approximately 07:40, when a duty team from the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service discovered the body of a man hanging by a sheet from the bars of a window in one of the quarantine cells of the 'Armavir' penitentiary facility, reports shamshyan.com.

According to the source, the deceased was identified as 49-year-old A.S. from Yerevan. The incident took place in cell 16, where he was suspended from the window bars, and he was charged under Article 139, parts 1 and 2, of the RA Criminal Code (committing violent sexual acts against a person under the age of 14).

The source also informs that his ex-wife has been in custody since April of this year and is currently held at the 'Abovyan' penitentiary facility (commonly known as the 'Women's Colony'). She is accused under Article 178, part 3, of the RA Criminal Code. She is suspected of committing large-scale theft through fraud against several citizens, with the total amount estimated to be around 7 million drams.
