Accident Involving Opel Zafira on Yerevan-Sevan Road Leaves Two Dead

On August 14, 2021, around 08:30, a resident of Hrazdan city was driving an Opel Zafira on the Yerevan-Sevan highway towards Yerevan. At the 43rd km of the highway, the driver performed actions contrary to traffic regulations, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The car collided with an advertising billboard on the right side of the road, then hit a tree and came to a halt.

As a result of the accident, two of the five passengers in the vehicle died, while the driver and the other three passengers sustained bodily injuries. A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. All five passengers have been recognized as victims.

During the pre-trial investigation, necessary investigative and procedural actions were conducted, including an examination of the accident site. The clothing worn by the driver at the time of the accident has been seized, and a blood sample was taken from him. Forensic examinations have been appointed for the deceased, as well as medical and toxicological evaluations.

A task has been assigned to the corresponding division of the RA Police.
