Firefighters Battle Blaze at Leather Factory for Over 3 Hours

For more than 3 hours, firefighters from the Emergency Situations Ministry's rescue service have been battling a large fire that broke out in a 100 square meter area near leather and waste materials of unknown origin at the "Leather Association" production company, named after Stepan Shahumyan, located in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan, built during the Soviet era and currently non-operational.

According to reports from the scene by shamshyan.com, company employees attempted to combat the fire before the firefighters arrived. While extinguishing the flames in several sections, firefighters have been risking their lives, as dangerous gases are emitted from the fire and smoke. Currently, firefighters have managed to contain the spread of the fire, but operations will continue for some time.

The patrol police of the Yerevan brigade have arrived promptly to monitor the area, ensuring that no one approaches the site besides the firefighters. A team of doctors from the Yerevan 1-03 ambulance service has also been on duty at the scene since 10:30, providing assistance to several firefighters on site, as the smoke continues to pose a health risk.

The cause of the fire will be clarified after a series of investigations are conducted.
