26 People Hospitalized Due to Drinking Water Poisoning in Armavir

According to preliminary reports, the number of residents who sought medical attention at the "Armavir" medical center due to drinking water poisoning is 26, of whom 10 have been hospitalized. This was stated by Ashkhen Poghosyan, an epidemiologist at the "Armavir" Medical Center, in an interview with NEWS.am.

“All those who came in were from the Khanzhyan community in the Armavir region. The condition of the 10 hospitalized residents is assessed as moderate. The remaining patients received appropriate medical care and were discharged,” said the epidemiologist, adding that the residents approached the medical center on August 11 and 12. As of today, no new patients have been reported.

Among the patients was one minor child, who has also been hospitalized. Earlier it was reported that on August 11, 2021, at 23:30, a report was received from the "Armavir" Medical Center stating that nine residents of the Khanzhyan community in Armavir region had sought medical assistance for an intestinal infection of unknown etiology, claiming they had been poisoned by drinking water.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. To clarify the significant circumstances of the case, samples of drinking water have been taken from the residences of the mentioned individuals, and forensic medical and forensic sanitary examinations have been appointed.
