VIDEO: Wildfire in California Spreads Over 112,000 Hectares
The wildfire in California, known as the "Dixie" fire, is rapidly expanding due to adverse weather conditions and has already covered an area of 112,000 hectares. This was reported on August 4 by the state’s firefighting authority, according to Armenpress.
According to the authority, 35 percent of the fire area has been brought under control so far, while it has nearly tripled in size since the end of July. This year alone, over 6,000 wildfires have been recorded in the state, consuming 234,500 hectares of forest and 400 structures.
It is anticipated that in the coming days, the smoke from the fires will reach San Francisco, one of the state's largest cities. Local authorities are preparing to issue alerts regarding serious air quality deterioration.
About 5,000 firefighters have been deployed to combat the blaze. Weather forecasts suggest that wind gusts may slightly subside on August 6, as reported by TASS.
