Global News Report from Turkey: About 80 Settlements Affected by Wildfires
Wildfires that erupted in southern Turkey have caused damage to 78 settlements across 5 provinces. This was announced by the country's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Bekir Pakdemirli.
“Damage has been inflicted on 2,219 agricultural enterprises. Compensation will be provided once we complete the assessment,” the minister stated in a conversation with journalists.
Firefighting efforts involve the participation of 16 aircraft, 9 drones, 51 helicopters, 96 fire engines, and nearly 5,200 personnel. He noted that thanks to foreign assistance, the number of available equipment has increased.
Currently, efforts are underway to combat 9 active fire fronts. Over the last day, 147 fire outbreaks have either been extinguished or brought under control. According to Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, the death toll from the fires has reached 8, with 864 injured.
