Turkey Denies Statements on Joint Army Creation with Azerbaijan

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, has stated that he did not discuss negotiations regarding the creation of a joint Turkic army between Baku and Ankara. Joint military exercises between the two countries are still ongoing, as reported by RIA Novosti, referencing Sputnik Azerbaijan.

Earlier, Sputnik Azerbaijan reported on the Turkish parliamentary leader's statements that Turkey and Azerbaijan are negotiating the creation of a joint Turkic army. However, it was clarified that Mustafa Sentop did not speak about joint army negotiations. The erroneous translation of Sentop's words had previously circulated via the Oxu.Az agency, as mentioned in the Sputnik report.

During a press conference, in response to a journalist's question on whether a united Turkic army would be formed, Sentop stated that joint military exercises are currently being held as part of ongoing agreements between the two countries. He noted, “Joint events are also planned in the field of military cooperation. Work is being done on these agreements. Our main slogan is one nation, two states. There have been many negotiations and agreements on this matter.”
