Why the Security System in the National Assembly has been Strengthened: ArmDaily

Today, it was reported in the media that arch-shaped X-ray devices have been installed near the entrances of the National Assembly hall, and all lawmakers must now pass through these devices when entering the hall.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the head of the National Assembly staff, Arnak Avetisyan, stated that the installation of the devices is due to security measures. “These are standard security measures being implemented in the National Assembly; there is nothing to be concerned about, no special regime, and no issues,” Avetisyan said.

He also informed that the X-ray device is installed only at the doors of the plenary session hall. When asked whether this will be the only location for installation or if security will be tightened at the entrances to other session halls as well, Avetisyan declined to answer, stating that issues related to security contain sensitive information that is not subject to publication.

It should be noted that similar devices had previously been installed at only two entrances of the parliament, namely Baghramyan and Demirchyan checkpoints.
