Armenian Soldier Found with Grenade in Reclaimed Position in Gegharkunik
A missing soldier has been discovered in positions reclaimed from Azerbaijani forces, found with a grenade in hand and ready to detonate it to avoid capture.
As previously reported, on July 28 at around 03:40, Azerbaijani military units launched an attack against Armenian positions located in the northeastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Azerbaijani offensive resulted in three fatalities, four injuries, and one individual reported missing. Later, the Governor of Gegharkunik informed "Factinfo" that the soldier has been located, sustaining severe injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital.
Telegram channels report that the soldier was found in an area that Azerbaijani forces managed to seize in the morning. However, Armenian military units later counterattacked, recovering the territory and pushing the adversary back to their initial positions. As a result, one Armenian soldier’s life was saved; he was wounded and transported to a hospital.
According to Telegram reports, when found, the soldier had a grenade with the pin pulled, prepared to detonate it should he be discovered by enemy forces while lying in his position. This action would at least have taken one enemy soldier with him to the afterlife.
