Tatoyan Visits Military Hospital and Meets Injured Soldiers in Gegharkunik
The representative of the Human Rights Defender visited a military hospital and met with soldiers injured by gunfire from Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction from Sotk to Verin Shorja villages in the Gegharkunik region. The information was reported on the Facebook page of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan.
During the visit, private conversations were held. The soldiers reported that the Azerbaijani armed forces had been firing at Armenian positions and nearby villages in recent days, noting that on July 28, between 03:40 and 04:00, the intensity of the Azerbaijani fire had increased.
Azerbaijani soldiers used various calibers of weapons, including mortars, sniper rifles, machine guns, and more. “Azerbaijani soldiers have targeted civilian settlements near Armenian positions, the villages of Gegharkunik, which has resulted in various injuries to Armenian soldiers,” the defender stated.
During the visit, the medical records of the injured soldiers were reviewed, and their health condition was discussed with the hospital staff. The soldiers sustained various injuries (to the shoulder, face, thigh, etc.), with the condition of one out of four soldiers assessed as mildly severe, two as moderate, and one as severe.
The collected information is being summarized in the Human Rights Defender's office. The health condition of the soldiers is under the immediate attention of the Defender's office.
Earlier today, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia stated that the Azerbaijani authorities are acting in clear violation of international regulations and are responsible for the killing of three Armenian soldiers in Gegharkunik today.
It is recalled that on July 28, around 03:40, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units once again provoked and violated the ceasefire in the northeastern section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed to cease fire through mediation by Moscow.
