Schedule of Armenian Athletes' Competitions at Tokyo 2020
In the main international sporting event, Armenia will be represented by 17 athletes competing for medals in 8 sports: wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, judo, swimming, athletics, artistic gymnastics, and shooting. Here is the schedule for the Armenian athletes' performances, according to Yerevan time:
The first athlete from the Armenian Olympic team to compete will be artistic gymnast Artur Davtyan, who will participate in the vault and parallel bars events. The qualification round for artistic gymnastics will start on July 24 at 05:00, and Davtyan will compete starting at 09:30. If he qualifies, he will participate in the final for the parallel bars on August 1 at 13:44, and in the vault on August 2 at 13:54.
On July 25, boxing champion Hovhannes Bachkov (63 kg category) and shooter Elvira Karapetyan will begin their medal contention. Elvira Karapetyan will start her qualification round for the 10m air pistol event at 04:00, with the final scheduled for 06:15. Europe's two-time champion Hovhannes Bachkov will compete in the 1/16 finals against Ryan Alston from Antigua and Barbuda at 08:06.
On July 26, judoka Ferdinand Karapetyan (73 kg) and boxer Koryun Soghomonyan (52 kg) will compete. The judo competitions will start at 06:00, with Karapetyan facing Kazakhstan's Jansay Smagulov in the 1/16 finals. At 12:15, Koryun Soghomonyan will step into the ring to face Jalal Yafa from England in the 1/16 finals.
On July 27 at 06:50, the women's weightlifting competition in the 59 kg category will begin, featuring Izabella Haylian. On the same day, swimmer Arthur Barsinyan will compete in the 100m freestyle at 14:00 Yerevan time.
July 28 is the competition day for swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan. Her event in the 100m freestyle will start at 14:00.
On July 29, Arman Darchinyan (75 kg) will have his first bout, competing in the 1/8 finals against the winner of the match between Andrey Semez (Slovakia) and Aaron Solomon (Trinidad and Tobago) at 06:30.
On July 30, swimmer Arthur Barsinyan will compete in the 50m freestyle, starting at 14:00.
Starting August 1, the Greco-Roman wrestling competitions will begin, where Armenia will have 4 representatives. On that day, Armen Melikyan will compete in the 60 kg category, starting at 06:00. On August 2, medal contention will begin for Karapet Chalyan (77 kg) and Arthur Aleksanyan (97 kg), with matches scheduled to start at 06:30.
On August 3, three athletes from the Armenian Olympic team will compete. Athlete Levon Aghasyan will contend for a medal in the triple jump, starting at 04:00. Greco-Roman wrestler Karen Aslanyan (67 kg) will have his first match at 06:30, and at 14:50, weightlifter Simon Martirosyan (109 kg) will compete for the title of Olympic champion.
On August 4, freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg) will compete, and on August 6, Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg) will also step into the mat, with the start of both matches set for 06:30.
