Gagik Tsarukyan Makes a Statement

From July 23 to August 8, the 32nd Summer Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo, Japan. Our strongest 17 athletes will participate in this significant sporting event. This was announced by Gagik Tsarukyan, the president of the Armenian National Olympic Committee.

“It is every athlete’s dream to win Olympic gold, but what is most important is to raise their country's flag on the podium. I believe that thanks to our athletes, not only will the Armenian tricolor be raised in Tokyo, but our national anthem will also be heard.”

I am firmly convinced that you will honorably fulfill the task of achieving a successful participation. This belief is based on your past sporting journey. It has not been easy or calm for you; you have faced difficult challenges. Last year, the raging pandemic and the war situation in our country made for a tough period for Armenian sports.
