Haik Martirosyan Defeats Azerbaijan's Top Chess Player with 100 Points Higher Rating
Haik Martirosyan triumphed in a tiebreak with a score of 1.5-0.5 against Azerbaijan's strongest chess player, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, securing a spot in the fourth round of the World Cup. This was reported by the Armenian Chess Federation.
In the results of the third round, Haik Martirosyan had drawn against Mamedyarov. To determine the winner, additional tiebreak matches were deemed necessary.
It is worth noting that in the second round, Haik Martirosyan achieved one victory and one draw against Turkey's top grandmaster, Yilmaz Mustafa, earning his place in the third round.
