Turkey's Armed Forces Eliminate Five PKK Militants in Northern Syria

Turkey's security forces have eliminated at least five militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which Ankara classifies as a terrorist organization. This was reported on Friday by Anadolu Agency, citing the country's Ministry of Defense.

Fighting has occurred near the border with Turkey in northern Syria, the ministry clarifies, noting that the militants were planning to carry out a terrorist act.

Turkey has repeatedly conducted cross-border operations against the PKK outside its borders. The Turkish Parliament regularly updates the mandate for such operations for the armed forces. Authorities cite the country's right to self-defense, which is enshrined in international law, as the basis for these actions, according to TASS.
