29-Year-Old Driver 'Zooming' on Sidewalks with BMW X6 in Yerevan

29-Year-Old Driver 'Zooming' on Sidewalks with BMW X6 in Yerevan

On July 6, the head of the Armenian Police, Major General Vahe Ghazaryan, visited the patrol service of Yerevan in connection with the commencement of his duties, and today the patrol officers began carrying out their official responsibilities.

It is no secret that there are certain drivers in Yerevan who consider themselves above the law and can maliciously violate traffic regulations, 'zooming' along the sidewalks with their iron steeds. On July 6, on Isakov Avenue, a driver of a BMW X6 with license plate 67 TT 858, disregarding the law, was grossly violating traffic rules while driving on the sidewalk.

If this young driver, identified as 29-year-old Vladimir Arevshatyan, a resident of Yerevan, were in a civilized country, he would face administrative penalties and his vehicle would likely be towed to a secure area for a significant period of time to discourage such blatant disregard for the law.

One can only hope that the newly appointed head of the Yerevan patrol service, Khachik Samvelyan, will take action and that this young man will face administrative responsibility, setting an example for numerous other law-breaking drivers. As a result of Khachik Samvelyan's diligence, society will be convinced that the situation has indeed changed.
