Child with 80% Burns from Accident Can Eat and Drink Independently: 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center

One and a half years after suffering from 80% burns in an accident, an 8-year-old boy is now able to eat and drink independently. This was reported in a Facebook post by the 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center.

On April 28, 2020, the child was admitted to the intensive care unit of the 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center with burns covering 60% of his body and 20% of his airways. The child's condition was nearly hopeless; specialists predicted that he might pass away within a few days. However, due to the coordinated efforts and dedication of the medical team, the center managed to pull the boy out of that critical state.

During the past year, the boy has undergone more than 15 surgeries. Last month, with the participation of a Russian professor, an unprecedented complex surgery in our country's medical practice was performed at the 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center. This involved a circumferential tracheostomy and esophageal plastic surgery, conducted by Professor Razumovsky, Deputy Director David Dallakyan, and the medical team of the center.
