Vendetta in Kotayk Province: Dispute-Tussle-Stabbing Leaves 2 Citizens Hospitalized in Critical Condition

The Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia is preparing materials regarding a dispute-tussle-stabbing incident that occurred on June 25 in Kotayk Province.

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, on that day, around 22:30, the police received a call from the ‘Abovyan’ medical center reporting that a citizen had been admitted with diagnoses of "lacerated wounds in the parietal region, lacerated wound on the right brow, lacerated wound on the right ear, multiple lacerations on the upper limbs.”

Law enforcement officials have identified the hospitalized individual as 27-year-old Arshak Makaryan, a resident of Aramus village, who informed the doctors that he had fallen while working in a garage. However, as the police began to ascertain the details of the incident, it became clear that his explanation was far from the truth. Shortly thereafter, another alert was received from the ‘Abovyan’ medical center indicating that a citizen had been admitted with diagnoses of “stab wounds to the left side of the chest, puncture wounds to the right abdomen, cut-stab wounds around the left shoulder.”

The police determined that the person admitted was 23-year-old Armen Hunanian, also from Aramus village. The doctors informed the police, and subsequently the investigators from the Abovyan investigation division led by Garnik Matevoyan, that neither individual was able to provide explanations about what had transpired, as they were in the intensive care unit.

While the medical staff fought to save their lives, officers from the Kotayk police and investigators from the Abovyan division uncovered that at approximately 22:00 on the same day, a dispute had arisen on personal matters near the cultural house on the central street of Aramus village. During this conflict, A. Hunanian had beaten A. Makaryan with a bat, hitting various parts of his body, while Makaryan had responded by stabbing Hunanian with a knife.

In connection with the incident, the investigator from the Abovyan department has ordered a forensic medical examination. According to G. Shamshyan's information, this incident is a vendetta, as there was a significant incident between their families years ago, which led to a criminal case and one person being detained.
