Levon Aronian Among Leaders in Goldmoney Asian Rapid

Grandmaster Levon Aronian has kicked off the 7th international tournament Goldmoney Asian Rapid. After the first 5 games of this rapid chess tournament, Aronian is among several leaders. He has achieved two victories and finished three games in a draw.

The Goldmoney Asian Rapid tournament is organized by world champion Magnus Carlsen and the top-ranked women's player Hou Yifan. The tournament boasts a prize fund of $1.6 million and consists of 15 rounds. A total of 16 chess players are participating in the event.

Aronian still competes under the Armenian flag. Recently, he issued a statement addressing questions circulating about his personal situation, indicating that Aronian is leaving Armenia. He will join the US national team.
