Arthur Bazeyan Becomes European Champion
Armenia has won its first gold medal at the European Boxing Championships for athletes under 22 years old, taking place in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy. Arthur Bazeyan, a student at the Vladimir Yengibaryan Sports School, triumphed over all his opponents and stood on the highest step of the podium in the 56 kg weight category.
In the final, he knocked out Irish boxer Adam Brian Hession. After a series of powerful punches from the Armenian athlete in the second round, the referee stopped the bout twice to count, and while the Irish competitor managed to continue the fight after the first count, the referee ultimately stopped the match after the second count.
