Two Young Men Aged 21 and 22 Arrested for Stealing Car License Plates
On June 21, detectives from the Vagharshapat division of the police detained two residents of Yerevan, aged 21 and 22, on suspicion of theft on Mashtots Street in Echmiadzin.
The police reported that they had broken the window of an Opel car in the yard of one of the buildings in Echmiadzin and attempted to steal it, but were unable to complete the act. The officers noticed them, pursued, and apprehended the individuals.
During the preparation of materials, it was revealed that the detained individuals had stolen license plates from a Mercedes car in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan around 1:30 a.m. on June 21. The stolen items were found in the backpack of the 22-year-old during a personal search.
It has been determined that they had also stolen license plates from two parked vehicles in the Arabkir administrative district earlier in June. Days later, they had stolen license plates from three cars parked in the Erebuni administrative district. The investigation is ongoing.
