Details Emerge on the Action-Film-Like Murder Incident at the Grave of ‘Thief in Law’ Marso in Ararat Province

New details have emerged regarding the action-film-like shooting and murder that took place on June 13 in front of the grave of ‘Thief in Law’ Marso in the village of Goravan, Ararat Province, within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the Investigation Committee of Armenia. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

It has been revealed that on June 13, around 19:00, Armen Hovhannisyan went to the cemetery in Goravan with other unidentified individuals. There, they allegedly fired their weapons—submachine guns, machine guns, and a pistol—at the residents of Goravan, brothers Gor and Gevorg Petrosyan, as well as Ruben Avetisyan from Ararat city and Karen Safaryan from Vedi city, along with other unidentified individuals who were with them, with the intent of unlawfully taking their lives. However, the crime was not completed due to unforeseen circumstances, as none of the shots hit anyone.

According to preliminary information, as a result of return fire from R. Avetisyan’s hunting rifle, A. Hovhannisyan was killed, after which the participants of the shootout fled the scene.

Yesterday, the investigator applied to the general jurisdiction court of Ararat and Vayots Dzor provinces and requested permission to search the apartment of a suspect identified as 43-year-old Karen P. from Ararat Province within the framework of the initiated criminal case. The court approved the investigator's request, and when the investigators and police arrived at his apartment, he presented a single-barrel smoothbore hunting rifle of the Baikal type, which was loaded with 4 cartridges.

The police and investigators are currently determining the legality of the weapon's ownership and, if it is legal, to whom it is registered.
