Araik Harutyunyan Plans to Hold a Confidence Referendum in Artsakh
According to NEWS.am, Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan is planning to hold a confidence referendum in Artsakh. He is expected to announce this during a rally in Stepanakert today.
Harutyunyan is likely inspired by the results achieved by Nikol Pashinyan in the extraordinary elections of the Armenian National Assembly and has decided to demonstrate the legitimacy of his power to the people of Artsakh through a referendum.
It is noteworthy that just yesterday, many citizens gathered at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert demanding the resignation of President Araik Harutyunyan. Today, Harutyunyan announced that he will address the public at the same square at 18:00.
"I am preparing to speak openly and sincerely about all the main issues and solutions ranging from the war to the current security and socio-economic situation, relations with the authorities of the Republic of Armenia, and internal political developments. I regret that in this fluid situation, many are losing their sense of reason without understanding the seriousness of the situation for Artsakh's future. Regardless of some people's attitudes toward me, I bear responsibility for all the citizens of Artsakh in this difficult situation," Harutyunyan wrote.
