The Armenia Alliance Issues a Statement
The Armenia Alliance has issued a statement.
“The Armenia Alliance expresses its gratitude to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia who supported and voted for the alliance during the National Assembly elections on June 20, 2021. This instills confidence that our hundreds of thousands of citizens, concerned about the country, not only recognized the existential threats facing the Armenian people but also endorsed the solutions proposed by the Armenia Alliance.
The Armenia Alliance reaffirms its position that the results of the parliamentary elections are highly questionable and do not inspire confidence.
We have serious grounds to declare these elections illegitimate and to state that the outcomes do not reflect the real balance of power in the National Assembly. Our observations and the information received from the alliance’s electoral headquarters indicate that violations began well before election day. Moreover, the preliminary summary of alerts from our representatives at numerous polling stations on the actual election day points to a systematic and pre-planned fraud concerning the election results.
In particular:
- A non-competitive electoral environment was formed, with the ruling authorities massively utilizing administrative resources and carrying out apparent acts of electoral intimidation.
- As soon as the counting began, numerous polling stations experienced power outages. This affected entire regions and specific communities, including Armavir, Lori, Shirak, Aragatsotn, and others.
- The presence and voting of a large number of foreign citizens in these locations were recorded at numerous polling stations, leading to the assumption that a fraudulent scheme with mobile groups was in operation.
- The undeniable fact of the military's directed voting ensured a significant number of votes for the authorities.
- There are deep suspicions that fraudulent election software was in place, which originally excluded the possibility of objective results.
- There are reports of concealed cases of vote buying by the authorities in specific communities.
The Armenia Alliance will utilize all available tools to challenge the results of the election, including appealing to the Constitutional Court. The alliance is commencing political consultations with other forces that participated in the elections to discuss the possibility of a joint appeal to the Constitutional Court,” the statement reads.
