The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has described the call by former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya for sanctions against the country's main enterprises as an unprecedented betrayal.

The former candidate made this call during her speech in the U.S. Congress. According to Zakharova, the employees of these companies are Belarusians, and it is unclear how one could request targeted strikes against their own country's citizens, who have built domestic production over the years and decades.

She also suggested that the American sanctions might already be prepared and that they simply needed a person to vocalize them.
