Identity of man killed in front of Moscow Cinema revealed

On June 2, 2021, at 10:58 AM, a report was received about a murder taking place in front of the Moscow Cinema located on Abovyan Street in Yerevan. An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and discovered the body of a man with a gunshot wound to the head on the roadway in front of 7 Abovyan Street.

This was reported by the Investigative Committee. A criminal case has been initiated in the Yerevan Investigative Division of the Central and Norq-Marash administrative districts of the RA Investigative Committee on the grounds of murder and illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a weapon.

As a result of urgent measures undertaken in cooperation with the employees of the RA Police, the identity of the individual who suffered a fatal gunshot wound has been established. He is a resident of Gavar city, born in 1971.

Necessary investigative and procedural actions have been carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, during which a fired cartridge was discovered and seized. Samples have been taken, and several witnesses who observed the incident have been interrogated. To clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case, forensic, post-mortem medical, and genetic examinations have been appointed.

The pre-trial investigation continues. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case, identify the individual who allegedly committed the crime, and present them to the prosecuting body. Instructions have been given to the investigative body.
