Citizens' Entry and Exit in Several Border Communities Restricted Without Justification: Urikhanyan
During the weekend, Tigran Urikhanyan, the independent MP and a candidate for Prime Minister from the unified list of the "Our Home is Armenia" party, visited several communities in the Gegharkunik region with his team.
According to the "Fact" newspaper, they witnessed effectively "closed" villages, where even though a "state of war" has not been declared, people's free movement is restricted for "security reasons." Urikhanyan observed quite concerning phenomena and reported being unable to find peace after returning to Yerevan.
Our sources indicate that he has only confided in a close circle, expressing uncertainty about how much of this should be publicized. We reached out to T. Urikhanyan to understand what they actually witnessed and what is happening in the border settlements.
"Yes, we indeed witnessed something similar to a checkpoint being placed on the roads leading to several border villages, which means that citizens' entry and exit are restricted without any specific justification, indicating a direct presence of danger," Urikhanyan stated, adding that he does not wish to elaborate further at this moment," the newspaper reports.
