The Situation is Developing in a Very Bad Scenario: Tigran Abrahamyan

Days ago, when I met with the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian, I understood from his indirect remarks that he did not particularly intend to remain in that position. This was noted by Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the Analytical Center "Henaket," on his Facebook page.

"But in my impression, he was preparing to resign immediately after the voting on June 20—at least, that conclusion stemmed from the context of his words. This resignation suggests to me that the situation is developing in a much worse scenario than anticipated, under which the Minister of Foreign Affairs did not wait 20 days. It is possible that one of the reasons is Prime Minister Pashinyan's circumvention of the MFA system and reaching secret agreements with Azerbaijan through other channels.

Overall, the meeting with the diplomat was very candid, although almost all of Aivazian’s wording had subtle diplomatic packaging; however, it was clear that the relationships between the MFA and the Prime Minister were obviously different in terms of principles and approaches. In short, the resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the comments regarding the reasons suggest that events on the external front have entered an unpredictable, uncontrollable phase," Abrahamyan wrote.
