We Stand United Before the Imperative to Save Statehood: Robert Kocharian

The second President of Armenia and the head of the "Armenia" alliance, Robert Kocharian, addressed the public on Facebook in connection with the Republic Day:

“Dear compatriots, I congratulate you on Republic Day. On May 28, 1918, after centuries of disruption, Armenian statehood was restored. This is one of the brightest pages of our new history, written by the collective will of our people, through the heroic efforts and shed blood of its best sons.”

The historical parallels are often conditional. However, the current state of Armenia is now characterized not by internal political strife but by a crisis of statehood. We, as a nation, are faced with the imperative of saving our statehood. Since May 28, 1918, we have lived through numerous challenges, no less severe than the present ones. But today, in contrast to the kneeling and disgraceful authorities, we have determination. We see serious prerequisites for building a strong statehood, for rebooting the dissolved state institutions and the entire life of our society.

Rest assured, as a nation, we will emerge from these current trials with dignity and will lead the Republic of Armenia to new heights.”
