Defense Ministry Statement: Latest Updates from the Border
Following the provocations carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in certain border areas of Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces on May 12 and 13, the situation, as of the morning of May 19, has not undergone significant changes.
In all directions of the provocations, both the territories and the Azerbaijani soldiers, as well as their possible supply routes, remain under the full control of the Armenian forces. Moreover, in the past two days, additional units of the Armenian Armed Forces have been deployed to the area, completely depriving the Azerbaijanis even of a theoretical possibility to carry out any actions, leaving them with the only reasonable solution to return to their initial positions.
Nevertheless, negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of the issue are still ongoing. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia is optimistic that these negotiations will yield desirable results and that the current situation will be resolved peacefully. At the same time, as previously stated, in the absence of solutions within a reasonable timeframe, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia reserve the right to resolve the issue through other means, including the use of force.
