Six Armenian Soldiers Captured from Kut Area, Tensions Remain High: Geghamasar Mayor

The Ministry of Defense recently announced that early in the morning of May 27, six soldiers of the Armenian armed forces were trapped and captured by Azerbaijani armed forces during engineering work in the border area of Gegharkunik province.

In a conversation with ArmDaily.am, Geghamasar Mayor Hakob Avetyan stated that the situation at the border is still tense. “They have been captured from the Kut area, I can’t say much, and any information leak could be harmful. The situation is tense, shots have been fired. Our forces are doing everything to bring the soldiers back; negotiations are ongoing at this moment,” he noted.

He also informed that despite the gunfire, there are no injuries or casualties reported.
