Investigative Committee Charges 5 Individuals in Diligence Shooting Incident
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported the charging of five individuals in relation to a shooting incident that occurred in Dilijan, Tavush Province. The events transpired on May 19, 2021, around 1:00 PM, when six residents from Yerevan traveled to a guesthouse on Hakobjanyan Street in Dilijan for a one-day leisure outing and organized a party in the outdoor pavilion of the guesthouse.
That evening, two locals from the same street and their friend engaged in a dispute with the guests from Yerevan, during which they threw stones at each other. An individual among the guests fired shots using an illegally possessed firearm.
According to the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee, based on sufficient evidence gathered, four individuals have been charged under Part 4 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and one individual has been charged under Part 1 of Article 235 and Part 4 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing. It is important to note that a suspect or accused person is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, through a court ruling that has entered into legal force.
