Economy Showing Signs of Growth: Tunyan
The economy is showing signs of growth. This was stated by Babken Tunyan, the Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.
He specifically noted: "Thus, the Economic Activity Indicator (EAI) has increased by 23.2% in April 2021 compared to April 2020, on a monthly basis. In the January-April 2021 period compared to the same period in 2020, there was a growth of 2.6%.
The construction sector saw the most significant growth, with an increase of 87.7% on a monthly basis (April compared to April of the previous year) and a 20.3% increase over the period (January-April compared to January-April of the previous year).
This April also recorded double-digit growth in the industrial, trade, and services sectors, as well as in exports.
The high indicators of April are mainly attributed to the lockdown in April 2020 and a sharp decline in economic activity. Nevertheless, the figures for this April practically indicate that the economy is starting to recover from the coronavirus crisis."
