Armenian-Russian Relations Are Not Limited to Karabakh, Says Sergey Lavrov

The agreements between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue are being successfully implemented. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Arguments and Facts newspaper.

The minister emphasized that Russian support is highly appreciated by Armenia. "Today we can say that the trilateral agreements made by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, recorded in their statements on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, are generally being successfully implemented. This particularly relates to eliminating the humanitarian and socio-economic consequences of the conflict, as well as unblocking transport and economic ties in the South Caucasus. Russian support is highly valued by our Armenian friends," he said.

According to Lavrov, Armenian-Russian relations are not limited to Karabakh. An "unprecedented active and reliable" political dialogue has emerged between the countries at high and other levels. In this context, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that only this year, the leaders of Russia and Armenia have met twice, as well as had numerous phone conversations. Lavrov also visited Yerevan in early May. Cooperation is also taking place at the level of the parliaments of the two countries.
