A Complaint Filed Against the Decision to Reject the Initiation of a Case Based on Gasparyan's Report
Former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Onik Gasparyan has filed a complaint in court against the decision to reject the initiation of a criminal case based on his report. This was reported by attorney Martik Martirosyan to ‘Factinfo’.
As previously reported, the administrative court has accepted Onik Gasparyan's petition and granted a request for provisional measures. This means that Onik Gasparyan must continue in office until the court reaches a final decision regarding this case. Moreover, the court's decision on the application of provisional measures takes effect from the moment of publication, while Prime Minister Pashinyan announced that Artak Davtyan has been appointed to the position of Chief of the General Staff by law.
Following this announcement, Onik Gasparyan reported a crime to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, demanding the initiation of a criminal case against the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense on charges of apparent abuse of office. The Investigative Committee made a decision to reject the initiation of a criminal case based on the absence of a crime. A complaint against the Investigative Committee's decision was filed with the prosecutor's office, which was rejected.
