Lukashenko and Aliyev Discuss Situation at Armenian-Azerbaijani Border
The presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan, Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev, discussed the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during a phone conversation on May 22, exchanging views on current issues, as reported by the press service of the Belarusian president, citing "RIA Novosti."
"The President of Azerbaijan provided detailed information about the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and presented Azerbaijan's position regarding the recent notable incident. As highlighted by Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus hopes that the situation will stabilize in the coming days," the statement said.
According to the report, an Azerbaijani delegation of construction specialists is set to arrive in Belarus soon, which will "develop a program for starting construction work in the 'liberated areas' of Nagorno-Karabakh (quotes added by the editor) in cooperation with Belarusian partners."
It was noted that Lukashenko also thanked his counterpart for supplying Belarusian hydrocarbon raw materials and for their support. Additionally, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the increase in trade turnover and acknowledged the significant potential for the development of bilateral relations.
"With regard to the Belarusian-Azerbaijani bilateral agenda, the heads of state have discussed in detail the areas of cooperation and the progress of the agreements reached during Lukashenko's recent visit to Azerbaijan," the statement concluded.
