Are There Armenian Soldiers Who Crossed the Border in Iran? Naira Zohrabyan

NAIRA ZOHRABYAN, a member of the National Assembly, has posted on her Facebook page:
“Are there Armenian soldiers who crossed the border in Iran? I wouldn't have addressed this issue if the Armenian media had not already raised it today.

For a considerable time, many parents of missing soldiers have shared information with me that they have reliable reports, even phone calls, indicating that their sons crossed the state border with Iran during the days of the war from the southern part of Artsakh, specifically from the Jabrail area, and were taken captive in Iran.

Moreover, one parent clearly pointed out the location in Iran, the military unit in the village of Amandi, where, according to their information, the Armenian soldiers are being held, considered to be border crossers. For a considerable time, I have been dealing with this issue and have discussed it several times with the Armenian ambassador to Iran, Artashes Tumanyan, who assured me that there is no such situation. Additionally, several parents have even traveled to Tabriz and met with the Armenian bishop, and again the answer was that there is no such situation.

I have officially addressed the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and I was informed that the letter has been received and that I will receive a response after some time. There has been no response yet.

Through my Russian colleagues, we have established contact with several Iranian generals, who have neither confirmed nor denied the information and have asked for time to provide a definite response.

I reiterate, I wouldn’t have raised this issue at this time and would have continued silently dealing with the parents if the media had not already publicized the matter. Naturally, it was shocking to hear the response from the Armenian Ministry of Defense stating that they have no comment on this topic. What topic do you have a comment on? Or do you have no comments on any topic at all and are not involved in any issue?

Hundreds of parents live every day hoping to receive at least some news, while, it seems, the authorities have no comments. I am now officially addressing the Armenian ambassador to Iran since the Armenian Minister of Defense is an incomprehensible vacuum, to accept the mothers who may convey certain information regarding the possible whereabouts of their sons in Iran, listen to the mothers, and try to resolve this months-long nightmare.”
